The mission of your life should be to leave a better world behind than what you inherited. – Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
#AllAboutHeritage
There is no present without the past. History — the stories we tell ourselves, the images we share, the laughs we hold dear and the pain we recollect — leaves an indelible imprint on our everyday lives.
But history is not something to be feared or retreated from. It is a beacon that can guide our way toward a better future, showing us the magic that came before us and hinting at the beauty still to come. This is why we celebrate our history and the culture — the heritage — it creates. It is in this spirit that we’ve brought together an eclectic array of talents in Schön! 45: #AllAboutHeritage.
Schön! 45 is a meeting with the past, a sing-along with the present, and a fantastic glimpse into a potential future. #AllAboutHeritage assembles notable figures, places and labels from across the globe to highlight the importance of both our shared and individual pasts, and how looking to those stories allows us to better influence the world today.
Starting in the realm of music, Becky G pays homage to her Chicana heritage in pieces from Pandora, while telling us all about her new album Esquinas. From there, we meet pop icon Lali, who recounts her journey from Argentina to global fame and why she’s inspired by Britney’s '90s moves. R&B star Victoria Monét takes a break from her world tour to talk us through her new record, with its rich, retro sounds, and the artists who have influenced performance style.
Social media stars Elevator Boys join with got2b to talk about gaining fame through the internet and their transition into the music industry. Music duo Nova Twins partner with a name that is iconic in the world of rock, Marshall, to celebrate the brand’s 60th anniversary and show how they’re reimagining rock for a younger generation.
Bridging the gap between rockers across generations, Avril Lavigne explains how she helped lay the foundation for Pop Rock and how her work, and her style, has evolved over time. Hayley Williams remembers the 2000s’ emo scene and how her teenage band Paramore took the world by storm.
Finally, the legendary Nile Rodgers takes us on a time-traveling voyage from his influence on early disco to his work with artists like Madonna, Daft Punk and Beyoncé. Kicking into high gear, we ride along with BMW Motorrad as they celebrate their 100th anniversary with the dazzling BMW CE 02 eParkourer.
We stop by Catalonia to experience some of the incredible designers of 080 Barcelona Fashion. Then, we make our way to Cappadocia with Go Türkiye for a breathtaking shoot in a place of exceptional and historic wonders.
After all this adventure, we take a quick break at London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel with Top Boy’s Jasmine Jobson, who remembers her first steps as an actor before thrilling us with details of her new show Platform 7. While we’re in London, we meet with Dark’s Louis Hofmann, wearing Cartier, and learn about his new WWII drama and his love for vintage shops and markets. Star of Bling Empire and entrepreneur Jaime Xie notes the landmark achievement of the show, discusses mixing tradition with modernity, and sets the temperature for her new (and delicious) brand.
In the world of fashion, there are a few brands that are synonymous with the word ‘heritage’ and Louis Vuitton is surely one of these.
We delve into the story of the historic Maison with an exclusive editorial by Ethan James Greene. Then we join Christian Louboutin for a colourful and contemporary look at the iconic accessories label. Maison Rabanne first took the fashion world by storm in the 1960s but continues to innovate to this day. We meet with Creative Director Julien Dossena to discover the brand’s thrilling, '70s pool party-themed collaboration with H&M. Meanwhile, we discover why heritage label Colmar, which is
celebrating its centenary this year, has partnered with artist Joshua Vides on a one-of-a-kind collection.
And, finally, we come to our cover star: Titans’ Anna Diop, who stuns in Carolina Herrera and OMEGA as she tells us how her Senegalese and American heritages meet, in her work, her life and her style.
History is not just something to be remembered; it’s something that we make every day, and now, our journey continues with you. Go forth and leave your mark — if you do it right, the whole world will know.
